Picturesque frame for Novosibirsk

The concept of using a large window expands the range of the monument to its physical surroundings . This frame has been used mainly to demonstrate the idea of `freedom´. This also adds light to the works of the originator of the supermatist movement Kazimir Malevich. This enables in capturing the view through the glass, thus making it picturesque at the same time.

PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN

1) FRAME

The square has been transformed into a real sculpture
The frame indicates blankness which enhances the meaning of ‘freedom of thought’.
Thus this glass has been used as an element of FREEDOM.

2) PATH

The realization to the path of freedom has been done by making a traingular engravement on the surface, with one of its vertix facing toward the direction of the giant frame.

3) DOWNWARD MOVEMENT

The flight of steps leads downwards which creates a feeling of enclosure and belongingness to the `nature of space´ and the ´monument´ as well.

Round cobbled stones has been used to make it uneasy for the people to walk on this surface. This element signifies the STRUGGLE before achieving FREEDOM.

4)RANDOM POSITIONING OF STEPS ON THE SECOND FLIGHT

The random positioning of steps has been done deliberately to make it uncomfortable for people before entering into the arena. This has been done to make it accessible only through some places. This marks the beginning of STRUGGLE.

5)RISE

The square has been kept at a strategic height. The height defines the RISE towards the ultimate goal i.e FREEDOM.

6)INTERACTION WITH THE MONUMENT

The steps have been used as a seating space so that people can interact with the monument.

7)IMPACT WITH THE SITE

The enclosure of the monument with NATURAL BOUNDARIES enhances the feeling of PEACEFULNESS and SILENCE. This also creates an obstruction free zone while users are viewing through the frame.
